Leith Comedy Festival will not be happening in October this year. There are various reasons for this, including public funding timelines, rising costs of production, and changes in audience buying patterns.
This is being felt across the arts sector, and you are no doubt getting used to these announcements.
This was a big decision. As many of you know, this has taken huge amounts of time, energy, passion and money to set up. I have steered it through a global pandemic and into a cost of living crisis, where funding and sponsorship are scarce.
At the moment, I don’t know what this means for Leith Comedy Festival. There are conversations to be had, and if there’s another way forward, I will find it. Whatever happens, let’s celebrate all the events that have happened, all the connections that have been made and all the laughs that have been shared. It's been amazing and I am very proud of it all.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Leith Comedy Festival, and hopefully our paths will cross again in the future.
Rosalind Romer, Director, Leith Comedy Festival
